What is the difference between each of the stages?

Our formula comes in different stages suitable to help your little one every step of the way.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 are made with relatively similar ingredients, but the ratios are slightly higher for Stage 2 to cater for your child’s needs as they grow older. Stage 2 is also slightly more concentrated as feeding frequency will be less compared to Stage 1.

Stage 3 is designed to nourish children 12 months and older, and is designed to provide more protein and a selection of vitamins and minerals to support growth and overall wellbeing.

How do I transition between the Baby Steps Stages?

When the time has come for your little one to move on to the next stage of Baby Steps, a straight transition is acceptable as our formulations are similar and use similar ingredients.

Can I use the different stages of Baby Steps outside of their recommended age brackets?

Our recommended age brackets are based on the nutritional requirements for different stages of growth:
Stage 1: 0 – 6 months old
Stage 2: 6 – 12 months old
Stage 3: 12 – 36 months old

How long does a can of Baby Steps last?

This can vary as it is dependent on several factors including your little one’s age, formula stage and frequency of feeding.

An indication on the number of feeds per stage can be found on our cans, which can give you an estimate of how long a can will last.

What is the shelf life of Baby Steps products?

The shelf life of our products is 24 months from the date of manufacture.

You can find the date of manufacture and the use by date on the base of our cans.

Switching to Baby Steps

How do I transition from breastmilk or my existing formula to Baby Steps?

Regardless of whether you are transitioning to Baby Steps from breastmilk or an existing formula, given that your little one has a sensitive tummy, it is recommended that the transition happen slowly.

Here are some transition tips:

  1. Gradual is best to allow your little one time to adjust.
  2.  Pay attention to your little one’s cues. If they are not responding well to the change, do take the time to slow down the transition.
  3. Replace your little one’s milk drink earlier in the first few days to allow you time to observe if your little one has any adverse reactions.
  4. If your little one has no adverse reactions, slowly increase the numbers of feeds per day of the new milk drink until they have fully transitioned to the new milk drink.

When transitioning my little one to Baby Steps, what do I need to look out for?

Your little one may experience minor digestive discomfort in the form of changes in bowel movement, gas or spit up as their bodies adjust to Baby Steps, however this is likely to be temporary and should subside within two weeks.

If you have any concerns, do reach out to a healthcare professional.

Can I mix two different types or brands of formula together?

What temperature should the water be when preparing a bottle?

The ideal temperature is between 35 - 40°C.

Can I freeze the formula?

It is not recommended to freeze the formula as doing so may expose the powder to condensation.

How should I store my Baby Steps product?

Always replace lid tightly after opening.

Unopened product should be consumed before the use by date noted on the bottom of the can.

How long does made up formula last?

Why is my formula foamy after I shake it?

Instead of shaking the bottle, you can try swirling the bottle in circular motions instead to ensure that the bottle is properly mixed.
