While processing is a crucial step for safety in the production of infant formula, to preserve the natural goodness of goat milk, at Baby Steps we keep processing to a minimum.

Our formula begins with fresh liquid whole goat milk sourced from our local goat partner farms here in New Zealand. Unlike some formulas made with skim milk and vegetable oils, we use whole goat milk to retain the natural milk fat and reduce the amount of added vegetable oils, providing your little one with improved fat content to support healthy growth and development (3) (4).

Alongside our fresh milk processing method, we also use a wet-blending method which means that nutrients are blended in with the fresh liquid whole goat milk to ensure consistency in the nutrition profile of our products, whilst delivering a clean and fresh taste.

Once fully blended, the milk is then gently heated once to transform it into a powder while also maintaining more of the milk’s original nutrients and natural qualities.

Other formulas on the other hand may undergo two heating phases by using already processed ingredients rather than fresh milk (5). These extra heating and drying steps can increase the level of undesirable compounds found in the milk and reduce its natural integrity.
